Coincidences

A lot of really funny things have happened over the past few days (ask papertigers about my therapist's suggestion that I should not be dating - *gasp* - a black woman!), but the one that is foremost in my mind happened early this morning.

We've both been having a lot of stress dreams lately. Last night, I dreamed that my neighbors had imported a skunk (aren't they native?!?) and I'd gotten scared by it and run away, leaving a still-connected land-line phone in the middle of the alley. By morning, the alley had turned into a major four-lane thoroughfare. tostita, with a brand-new redheaded baby, decided to go protect the phone and the skunk by setting herself, the baby, and a whole bunch of backpacks and other things in the middle of the road, surrounding the phone. I called out to her that the bags wouldn't really protect her in the middle of traffic. As I did so, I was awakened by papertigers saying, in her sleep, "I guess I've done that before." She sounded kind of resigned.

I swear it took me a minute to figure out that she was involved in her own dream, and was not in fact saying that she'd taken the baby into traffic before and camped out there, or excusing anyone else for doing so.

I haven't talked to her today - she was asleep when I left. I wonder what she could have been dreaming about?
